Without a doubt, Auto-Craft manufactures one of the leading VW dry sump oil pump and pick-up on the market today. Available in two stage, this pump is machined from aircraft quality billet aluminum and hard anodized to eliminate wear. Each body section is located with dowel pins and is individually sealed with O-rings. The pump uses OEM quality gears keyed to shafts fully suspended in needle bearings. High nickel alloy shafts, bearings, and seal assemblies are retained by spirol locks. Pump comes with or without fuel pump drive. The oil pick-up is externally located. Made from cast aluminum, the pick-up features a removable screen for easy cleaning. Stainless tubing routes incoming oil directly to the pump, bypassing case passages.
For oval track all out performance racing, we recommend the Peterson Gerotor 3 stage pump. The Gerotor pump provides smooth pumping action and less aeration of the oil. This high volume pump uses spacer plates and wider rotors to increase the pumping volume of the pump. Gerotor pumps self-prime, and their large inlet parts are active for 180 degrees of shaft rotation providing superior fill capacity and suction.
The Autocraft 1 1/2 stage pump evolved from the single stage wet sump pump. The additional half stage can be used to suction excess oil from the Rocker Box area in each Cylinder Head, a must for the serious racing engine. This pump can be used with a fuel pump drive or a blank cover plate.
Auto-Craft found it necessary to manufacture an oil pump to enable an engine to use a wet sump oil system with a cam-driven fuel-injection pump, or a fan and generator. This pump is machined from the same aircraft quality aluminum as our dry sump pumps. It can be used with a fuel pump drive or with a blank cover plate.
